Among my great passions in life are travel, nature, and photography. My photographs have appeared in numerous publications including The Smithsonian, hang in the offices of the Environmental Defense Fund, and have won contests including the 2012 Oregonian Travel Photo Contest.
Nature provides a sense of peace and magic. Travel broadens one's view of the world. Experiencing other cultures, meeting people from other communities and other countries and seeing the beauty, and sometimes ugliness, of the world has helped me understand that all of our lives are at once interconnected and individual. We are all the same.
I view the art of photography - whether landscape photography, travel photography, or nature photography - as a means to try to capture the emotions I felt at the moment of the shutter click. Through photography I seek to document my own personal experiences, to capture the poetry of place and to share with others the beauty, balance, and diversity of the world.
I often have camera in hand when I travel around town, around Oregon and the Pacific Northwest, or around the world. My adventures have taken me throughout the U.S. and also to Guatemala, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, China, and Tanzania.
